Here is the link to the newest NAJC Journal of Jewish Spiritual Care, of which I am the editor in chief. I am proud to present this to you.
Pardon me for hiding behind “Anonymous”.
I found this very interesting to read through. You have a right to be proud of it, I’m sure.
As a middle-aged liberal Protestant, I was all on board with (what I thought was) the CPE ethos of knowing myself so as to minimize as much as possible the danger of hurting others.
Reflecting on the article on CPE, I also found the “hidden-ness” of the CPE process extremely painful. To be asked to jump through invisible hoops that remained un-articulated and which seemed to change capriciously with the wind felt like being a small child who was told to “do A” and then was immediately punished for “doing A” because that wasn’t what was really wanted. I do wonder how “abusive” (I hate that over-used word but can’t think of a better one) the process is inherently and not necessarily due to religious or denominational differences?
But I very much enjoyed reading the Journal.
